Hi, this is admsgrdn. My name is Pat and this is my home on the web. I called it Adams Garden because it is built in memory of my son, Adam Michael.
Adam was born on April 4, 1990 and shortly thereafter was diagnosed with a genetically inherited disease, Werdnig Hoffman, Spinal Muscular Atrophy a form of Muscular Dystrophy. He died from this disease on November 4, 1990.
After his death his father and I decided to build a garden in our yard in his memory and of course it is called Adams Garden. We installed a pond with a waterfall. Planted trees, rhododendrons and azealeas, as well as roses, irises and daffodils. We put in bird houses and feeders and angel statues. This was good therapy for us.
Our gardens continued to grow. We put in a rose garden. Then we put up an arbor and planted wisteria. We added herb beds and vegetable gardens and planted fruit trees. Put up gates and fences. This past summer we planted our vegetable garden in the front yard, as the area we used to plant now has the horse pasture, barn and the chicken coop on it. We have added additional ponds, one in the sideyard near a weeping willow tree, where it is shady. This is where we have hostas, ivy, honeysuckle and alpine strawberries growing. There is another small pond by the back door in a rose garden. I am trying to grow an old fashioned cottage garden, but the weeds keep outsmarting me. Of course it doesn't help when you go away on vacation every chance you get!
Here is a picture of Adams Garden when it was first created.
